Professor Grace Dorey, MBE, FCSP, PhD
One of the world’s leading experts in the field of pelvic floor physiotherapy and the impact of pelvic floor exercises on erectile dysfunction, incontinence, prostate health, and sexual performance, Professor Grace Dorey is incredibly prominent amongst her peers. A published author of numerous studies, she is responsible for the most significant study of its kind: Pelvic Floor Exercises for Erectile Dysfunction, which featured in the British Journal of Urology International in 2005. In 2004 she was awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, and in 2012 was honoured with a Member of the British Empire award (MBE).
Professor Dorey is an Emeritus Professor of Physiotherapy/Urology at the University of the West of England, Bristol, which is where she received her PhD. She is also a Consultant Physiotherapist at Nuffield Hospital in Taunton. The lead physiotherapist for a national multi-centred trial run by Aberdeen University investigating “The Effectiveness of Pelvic Floor Exercises Following Prostatectomy,” funded by the Health Technology Assessment Programme, she is highly acclaimed in her field.
Professor Dorey has produced a number of textbooks, self-help books and videos. In addition, she runs male and female continence and sexual dysfunction studies for physiotherapists and nurses throughout the world.
Dr Steve Lebovitch, MD
Leading urologist and member of the Urologic Institute of New Jersey, Dr. Steve Lebovitch specialises in laparoscopic and robotic (da Vinci) surgery. He completed his general surgery and urology training at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, and then went on to receive further training at the Fox-Chase Cancer Center. Demonstrating great knowledge and expertise in the field of male sexual and erectile dysfunction, the male reproductive system, voiding dysfunction and urinary incontinence and diseases of the ureter, bladder, prostate, urethra and penis, Dr. Steve Lebovitch is a great asset to the Private Gym Medical Advisory Board.
Dr. Dagmar O’Connor, PhD
Dr. Dagmar O’Connor was the first female sex therapist to be trained by Masters and Johnson in New York City. She has served as Director of the Sex Therapy Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, Lecturer in Psychiatry at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and Director of Training at New York Medical College’s Department of OB/GYN Sex Therapy Program. She is also a best-selling author.
In addition to her research and private practice, Dr. O’Connor holds vacation “Sexual Self Esteem” and “Sex Therapy For Couples” workshops for men and women in Puerto Rico. As an advocate of the Private Gym programme, she incorporates Kegel exercises for men into her workshops. In addition to improving physical health, these exercises are also extremely beneficial for increasing self esteem.
Paul R. Nelson, CCMA
As the president of the Erectile Dysfunction Foundation, a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counsellors and Therapists, a Certified Sexuality Educator, as well as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Paul Nelson is extremely well known and highly respected in his field. An instructor at the Institute for Sexuality Education in Hartford, CT, and a sought after speaker for various men’s groups, he has been featured in “The New York Times”, on National Public Radio, and on ABC News.
His professional memberships include the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counsellors & Therapists, International Society of Sexual Medicine, and the American Urological Association.
Dr. Mutahar Ahmed, MD, FACS
Specialising in oncology, larparoscopic and robotic Surgery, cryoSurgery and reconstructive urological surgery, Dr. Mutahar Ahmed has a particular interest in minimally invasive treatments for the prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer. Well known as an innovator, he was the first to perform a robotic radical cystectomy and sacrocolpopexy in Hackensack University Medical Center, New Jersey.
With privileges at a variety of medical centres across America, he is a very well respected and highly acclaimed medical professional. Awards that he has received include the Pfizer Scholars in Urology Award, the American Urological Association Praecis Pharmaceuticals Gerald P. Murphy Scholar, a distinction in the Study of Prostate Cancer, the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award and he was honoured as one of New Jersey Monthly’s Top Doctors.
Dr. Ahmed has a bachelor degree, a medical degree and he completed his general surgery and urologic surgical training at the University Of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Published in a variety of different urologic journals, he is Board Certified and a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Michael Esposito, M.D. FACS
Dr. Michael Esposito is a practicing urologic surgeon who has privileges at a number of different medical centres across America. Director of the Center for Robotic Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery Endourology at Hackensack University Medical Center in NJ and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology/Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in Newark, he is very well respected in his field.
Dr. Esposito received his medical diploma and urology training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then obtained a Fellowship in Laparoscopic Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery, and Endourologic Stone Surgery at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Gregory Lovallo, M.D. FACS
Dr. Lovallo is a practicing urologic surgeon with privileges at a number of well renowned medical centres and hospitals, including Hackensack University and Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck. A Diplomat of the American Board of Urology, he received his medical diploma and post-graduate training in General Surgery and Urology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey.
As a highly respected medical professional, Dr. Lovallo has authored and co-authored multiple publications. He has also presented video demonstrations to medical societies in the United States and Europe. Awards received include, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award, the New Jersey Medical School Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Gold Foundation Award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching, and he was named NJMS Trauma Mid-Level Resident of the Year. He specialises in stone disease, robotic/laparoscopic surgery, and reconstructive urological surgery.
