You probably think of Kegel exercises as a chick-only thing. She squeezes her pelvic floor muscles to prep her for childbirth or make sex more intense. But it turns out, they’re not just for women.

Just like women, men have a pelvic floor, supported by the Pubococctgeus muscles, and training them can heed similar results including improved bladder control and enhanced sexual pleasure.

“It’s as good as Viagra, without the cost and side effects,” said Grace Dorey, a professor emeritus of physiotherapy and urology at the University of the West of England and an enthusiastic proponent of Kegels for men.

Women aren’t the only people who should be doing Kegel exercises, experts say. Studies have found that pelvic floor exercises – long known to help women with childbirth and recovery as well as prevent incontinence – can also help with incontinence, recovery from prostate surgery, and other issues in men, including possibly sexual dysfunction.

The Provate Gym, LLC announced today the release of its groundbreaking, innovative fitness program, Private Gym, the first FDA registered exercise program that strengthens the pelvic muscles.

…Private Gym implements some pretty …serious science and is built upon the findings of Dr. Arnold Kegel – the guy who invented Kegels. “There is a verys significant decline in function of every single muscle group as you age,” says Dr. Siegel. “Of course, there are exceptions: 80-year-old guys who can function very well and 30-year-olds who can’t. There is a distinct tren as you age and our goal is to try to basically change that – nip this in the bud before it becomes an issue.
