Proper NutritionMany food products contain synthesized chemicals, artifical flavoring, colours, preservatives and stabilzers. They also contain high levels of salt and saturated fats. In todays age the shape of the nation is frequently reported in the media. These reports indicate that diabetes, cancer and clinical obesity are on the rise, becoming a more common problem. One of the main reasons for the increase in the above diagnoses is the quality of foods people consume. There are many foods that are full of synthesized chemicals, have far too much salt and contain large amounts of saturated fat. A recent trend is to replace natural sugars in some products with artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame and acesulfame-k both of which are suspected carcinogenic agents, which means it can increase the risk of cancer in humans. In review, a diet laden with saturated fats and lots of sugars combined with little physical activity is not good for one’s health as they simply don’t burn the calories that are taken in, hence the body stores them as fat for use at a later date.
